Kalaupapa is an unspoiled and breathtakingly beautiful peninsula located on the north coast of Moloka‘i. Here, you will discover how blessed Saint Damien gave his life and how Saint Marianne Cope carried on his incredibly selfless mission for patients diagnosed with leprosy (now known as Hansen’s disease). Kalaupapa is only accessible via aircraft or a 3.2 mile hike or guided mule ride tour down the 1,780 foot sea cliffs which include 26 switchbacks. It is currently closed to outside visitors.
